Velma Moore Adams was the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Sharon Moore, born on May 2, 1966. She was the first of twelve children. She was baptized at age 8 and she witnessed the reconciliation of her mother and father’s marriage in Holy Matrimony. She attended Andrew Jackson High School, where she graduated in 1985. She also attended FSCJ for a couple of years.
She worked briefly for the Florida Times Union. However, her long-term service was at the IRS. She started there in customer service, but she worked her way up to become a tax law specialist, a trainer and a manager. She eventually retired from the IRS after working there for over 35 years. She was briefly married to Rodney Adams and then was preceded in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Sharon Moore, along with her beloved daughter Rachel Adams.
Velma enjoyed cooking, traveling, planning family trips and caring for her grandkids. She was also known as a caregiver and a God-fearing woman. She was a mother to her village.
She will be dearly missed by many including Eric Allen and her three wonderful sons: Samuel (Najma) Moore, Jonathan Adams and Josiah Moore; as well as her two beautiful grandchildren, Chance Moore and Maya Adams; step grandson, Kingston; and three God-daughters, Elsie, Selena and Teia.
Velma Moore Adams will also be dearly missed by her 11 siblings: Tracy Moore, Reggie (Alison) Newsome, Naomi (Gonzalo) Ramirez, Daniel Moore, Abigail A. Moore, Marcus (Daysha) Moore, Tychicus Moore, Obed (Karisha) Moore, Sharon (Domingo) Diego, Hanna (Marlin) Ling, Benjamin Moore, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and co-workers, friends and family.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Mooreville Cemetery, 17534 U. S. Highway 90, Sanderson, FL 32087.
