Catherine “Kitty” Elizabeth Richardson Berger was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on March 23, 1941, to Cecil and Ruth Richardson. After living in several cities across Florida, they moved to Sarasota in time for Kitty to start at Sarasota High School. She excelled in chorus and played Dorothy in Wizard of Oz at Players Theater. She could have had a career in music if she desired, however there was one thing she wanted more in life, a family of her own.
At the age of 19, she was hired as a secretary at a local real estate office. By 1962, she had married her boss. He was the love of her life and she adored him. Kitty and Harold were married for 52 years. She continued to do the bookkeeping until the day of her passing.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Breslyn; and sister, Barbara.
She leaves behind her daughter, Alisa; grandchildren, Raven, Kayla, and Liam; nephew, Bob McElroy; and niece, Kim Gardner.
In her younger years, Kitty enjoyed gardening, crafts, and carting her kids and their friends all over town. She tolerated sailing with Harold until “that one white storm” and then she didn’t. In her later years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, helping people, watching birds, butterflies, “Big Bang Theory,” neighborhood comings and goings, and texting with friends. Kitty was small, but mighty and she left this earth under her own terms.
